DO THIS IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME

KEY VERSE

Luke 22:19

And when He had taken some bread and given 

thanks, He broke it and gave it to them, saying, 

“This is My body which is given for you; do 

this in remembrance of Me.”


OUTLINE


I. Eating well and getting drunk is NOT the purpose of the observance of the Last Supper. (1 Corinthians 11)


II. Observing the Last Supper according to legalistic religious standards is NOT the purpose of the Last   Supper. (Luke 22:15-20)


III. The purpose of the Last Supper is simply to put into our minds for reflection and application the life, death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ. (Luke 22:19)


IV. Jesus was only about the here and now when it related to one’s relationship to God and eternity. 

(Matthew 19:16-30)


V. The whole law of the OT lies within the love of the Lord and loving your neighbor. (Matthew 22:37–40)


VI. Those who receive the Lord’s Supper acknowledge their sanctification through the blood of Jesus Christ.[1]

(Luke 22:15&20)


VII. If you do not believe in Jesus Christ, or have not received Him as your Savior, then in reality, there is no reason for you to observe the Last Supper, for what we are observing is the whole life of Jesus and our obedience to His commandments. (1 Corinthians 15:50–57)
