Cary Anderson

Head Pastor

Pastor Cary holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biblical and Theological Studies from Liberty University, and he is passionate about teaching the Word of God. He was appointed associate pastor of the Cowboy Church of Young County in 2017 and became the senior pastor in 2019. Before entering the ministry, Cary spent 42 years working in the electrical trade and the general construction industry. He attributes his strong work ethic to his father, Larry Anderson, who believed that children should learn the value of both hard work and play. Cary began his first job as a helper in the electrical field at the age of 12, working alongside his father.
In 1989, Cary met the woman he had prayed for, and they were married in 1991. Cary and Brenda have been happily married ever since. They both enjoy activities such as hunting, hotrods, creating artwork, traveling, working with horses, and engaging in multiple “do it yourself” home projects all at once. He also serves with the Weatherford Lions Club, the Glasshouse alcohol recovery center, and Quest (Fellowship of the Sword).
In 2014, Cary and Brenda faced the unimaginable loss of their only son. Pastor Cary reflected, “Those were tough times for both Brenda and me. Losing a child is difficult for parents, and it can also strain marriages and extended family relationships. However, I believe that those challenging moments were the turning point that led me to surrender my life to Jesus Christ and become a pastor.”

“With great tragedy comes even greater opportunities to serve Jesus Christ, the risen King.”

 Favorite verse;
 2Timothy  4:7
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

Brenda Anderson

CHILDREN'S MIN ISTER

Brenda  serves as the Children’s Minister of the cowboy church. The mission of the children’s ministry is to bring children into salvation and equip them for life and spiritual battle.
Brenda has an extensive background working with children, which began in high school with mission trips with her youth group. The mission trips would always include implementing a Vacation Bible School or a Backyard Bible Club. In college, she was commissioned as a Baptist Student Union (now Baptist Student Ministry) Summer Missionary through the Home Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention to serve one summer as a children and youth minister at various churches in another state. She and her team had a very busy schedule with various children’s and youth events that summer.
It is through these experiences that the Lord led her into a career as a mental health professional specializing in children and families, which she pursued for over 30 years. While working with children and families in her career, she has also been involved in the church's children’s ministry. She has served in different roles over the years, teaching children in Sunday School, youth Bible studies, VBS, AWANAs, and Divorce Care 4 Kids (DC4K).
If you ask Brenda her favorite age, it would be preschoolers because they are so moldable and are very curious, asking some of the best questions. Overall, she really likes working with all ages and stages. She has a passion for helping kids know they are wonderfully made, have a purpose, and that God loves them at ALL times. Brenda encourages children to memorize scripture so they can stand firm in their faith and make the best choices.
Brenda’s hobbies include creative pursuits such as dabbling in leatherwork, art, crafts, and gardening (planting and watering, not weeding!). She loves dogs and horses and looks forward to riding when she can.
She is married to Cary. With many blessings, trials, and losses along the way, the goal has been and is to grow in relationship with God, serve others, and go where God calls us.
