KEY VERSE
Mark 2:17
“It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those
who are sick; I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”.
OUTLINE
I. Mature believers don’t view themselves as
superior to other sinners because they recognize that everyone is a sinner.
(I Kings 8:46; Ecclesiastes 7:20; Psalm 143:1–2; Romans 3:21–23, 5:12)
II. As mature believers, we are to introduce the sinner and the non-believer
to Jesus Christ through His gospel. (Mark 16:15; Matthew 28:18-20)
III. The mature believer understands that it is their responsibility to
prepare and equip themselves by studying and living out the word of God in
order to defend the hope they have in the gospel of Jesus Christ. (1 Peter
3:15; Philippians 1:16)
No matter who we are or what we have experienced, we
as believers must be able to defend the “Gospel” of Jesus Christ. Rule 1221,
Chapter 7 of the Franciscan monks states, “All the Friars … should preach by
their deeds.” In other words, let your actions speak louder than your words.
Who in their right mind would follow someone who preaches one way and lives
another? Even in the case of Jesus Christ, He lived out His Father’s word every
second of His life before He preached it. Our goal is to live as an example of
Jesus Christ.
Preach the Gospel at all times. Use words if necessary.
Love Y’all Cary
